Lustrous Pearl Hoops

• We just learned how pearls are formed - apparently when oysters and mollusks have an irritant like sand get into their shells, they create nacre (mother-of-pearl) to reduce the irritation. Layers of nacre build up to form little baby pearls. We just thought that was cool.
